Ideas

The Dink in Pink Pickleball Tournament was created in 2023 by Breast Cancer Hawaii volunteer Jafra Depontes, whose passion for serving Hawaii's cancer community and vision of reaching more people across the islands inspired this special event. Jafra believed that no one facing cancer in Hawaii should have to feel alone or travel thousands of miles to find the support they need. Today, the tournament is proudly held in her memory, honoring the extraordinary legacy she left behind and the countless lives she continues to touch through the support, hope, and connection it makes possible.

Because of the generosity of our tournament participants, sponsors, donors, and volunteers, Jafra's vision continues to grow. Tournament proceeds have helped expand Breast Cancer Hawaii's programs, including a Wellness Retreat on Hawaii Island and Survivor Meet Ups on Kauai, in Hilo, and in Kona. Soon, we'll launch our first Neighborhood Network in Kona, creating local circles of support with plans to grow statewide.

Every new program, every connection, and every life touched is a reflection of Jafra's dream. Through the Jaf's Dink in Pink Pickleball Tournament, her compassion, vision, and unwavering commitment to community continue to bring hope, connection, and care to cancer survivors and their families across our islands.
