Mohala Mau
About the Program
What is Mohala Mau?
Mohala Mau, meaning to continue to bloom, is a community-based pilot initiative funded by the University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center and awarded to Breast Cancer Hawaii to explore quality-of-life disparities among Native Hawaiian breast cancer survivors.
The project centers survivorship beyond clinical outcomes, recognizing the physical, emotional, cultural, spiritual, and social dimensions of well-being. Working closely with Native Hawaiian survivors, cultural practitioners, researchers, and community organizations, Mohala Mau seeks to better understand survivorship experiences and identify culturally grounded ways to support quality of life.
Paid Student Fellowship Opportunity
As part of this pilot, Mohala Mau is currently seeking a Native Hawaiian student to support research and community engagement efforts under the guidance of community and research mentors. Findings from this work will help inform future research, programs, and community-driven solutions rooted in Native Hawaiian values and lived experience—so that our survivors may continue to bloom.
